Presidents report for the year 2009.

The year 2009 was a busy year for Waroula with a healthy  number of events held.

These consisted of 2 clinics, a ‘green horse, green rider’ day and  several official dressage competitions with one these being a 2-day championship event. All events were well supported and all events ran well and therefore must be considered successful. Waroula also ran the showjumping at the Ridgelands show as it has done in past years. Our events secretary, Gayle Bell, who was burdened with much of the workload involved with running these events should be very proud of her achievements. THANK YOU!

The year was also a busy one with regard to equipment improvements. Specifically, we were able to renew the  pipework on one arena and refurbish the second thanks to the generous donation of an entire arenas worth of pipe. Our thanks to Diane Hinch for this. The club also purchased 30 new jump rails and at the time of writing these are being painted. We are indebted to the Whitmore family for the donation of a very large amount of paint for this purpose. The arena trolley was commissioned and frames made to facilitate the storage of the arenas. We are once again indebted to Mick Ryan’s abilities with metal for this.

A grant application was submitted to the Community Benefit Fund for the purpose of purchasing a jump trailer. This application was unfortunately unsuccessful in the first funding round though the application will be considered for a second time in February 2010.

In all, a successful and productive year.

It is traditional at this point to thank all those people who made these things possible. The fact that this is so routinely done is unfortunate in that the sincerity that is often intended is lost. I do not want that to happen in this case and therefore point out strongly that what I am about to say is done so not by way of routine but rather  as a very sincere expression of appreciation.

That said, I wish to express my sincerest thanks to everyone who contributed to the successful running of the club over the past 12 months. To all those people who made any donation of time or materials to Waroula, THANK YOU! To  anybody who pencilled or scored at an event, who lent us a car for a judge, lifted rails or helped pack up an arena, who donated a piece of equipment and to our junior canteen helpers, THANK YOU!

I would like to make special mention of those half dozen or so individuals and families whose constant work throughout the year made everything possible for you all. These are the people who took positions, attended the meetings and ran your club. The entire membership is indebted to them!  For my part though, the sincerest THANK YOU!

Waroula is in great shape. Membership is strong and finances healthy. We look forward to an exciting and productive 2010.  However, Waroula needs your help! I invite you all to attend meetings and get involved! Be a part of the decision making process. Be a part of your club!

I wish the 2010 committee the very best success.

Dated 8th June 2009

Just a quick note to let you all know that we revised the competition dates for the near future at the last meeting.

Most of you will already be aware that the dressage day planned initially for the 14th of June has been cancelled due to a clash of dates. The competition planned for the weekend of the 29th and 30th of August has also been rescheduled to the 2nd of August. The championships planned for the weekend of the 12th and 13th of September are still on.

Details and a programme for the August dressage day should be out sometime very soon and available on the website at www.waroula.com.au.

Hope to see you all out on 2nd August. Until then stay safe.

Cheers,
Paul Daniels

Dated 3rd September 2008

August has been a very busy month with a Ron Easy Clinic, which was well supported and enjoyed by all riders.  Thanks to Kerrod for all the hard work in organising this clinic.

The Ruth White Clinic was fully booked out and thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated and once again thanks to Susan McCamley for her hard work in organising this.

Our first showjumping competition was very well supported and was a good drive, with lots of lovely comments from riders about the lovely jumps and courses.

A big thank you to all the members that participated in these events and to all the helpers that made them possible.

Dated 6th August 2008

Waroula is having a busy time at present with plenty of schools and competitions.  The Ron Easy Clinic was well attended and the Ruth White Clinic filled up fast.  Our competiton was successful and a great day was had by all who competed.  We look forward to our next schools with some new instructors.  The next jumping competition should also be a good day.

Dated 30th April 2008

March 22nd & 23rd Ruth White School

April 19th & 20th Ruth White School

April 25th Dressage Competition

Both schools were totally booked out and everyone enjoyed Ruth’s instruction. Ruth may be able to come back after July for further schools. A big thankyou to Susan McCamley, for housing and looking after Ruth for both these schools.

We all agree that the Austadium is a pleasure to ride in.

The Dressage Comp was well supported, the day ran very smoothly, and we had a nice early finish.

Now we move onto organising our remaining comps as the earlier the programs are out the easier it is to let everyone know about them.

Waroula now has a web site up and running many thanks to Silvia Smith for all her work on this, and to Smithy’s Auto Electrical & Air-Conditioning for sponsoring the site.
